Cage Diving Where It All Began: Gansbaai, South Africa
Gansbaai, two hours from Cape Town, is the birthplace of great white cage diving. Boats work the channel between Dyer Island and Geyser Rock, home to some 60,000 Cape fur seals along the stretch once called Shark Alley. Great whites are rare here now. Trips continue with marine biologists aboard, and the shark you are most likely to meet in the cage today is the bronze whaler.
