Mirador Las Torres

Mirador Las Torres is the viewpoint at the base of the three granite towers that give Torres del Paine National Park its name, in Patagonia, Chile. Walkers set out from Puerto Natales, the gateway town about two hours from the park, and the trail runs about 13 miles round trip from the Welcome Center, climbing about 3,000 feet through the Ascencio Valley and lenga forest, ending with a steep scramble over glacial boulders to a turquoise lake below the towers. The whole walk takes most hikers seven to ten hours. From late April to late August, park rules require a guide on this trail.

Why this one matters

It is the signature leg of the W Trek, the park's famous four to five day route, and its most iconic sight. Hikers with only one day get the trek's defining view in a single walk, and arriving on foot after a full day's climb makes it feel earned.
