Sentiero degli Dei (Path of the Gods)
Sentiero degli Dei, the Path of the Gods, is a cliff path high above the Amalfi Coast in southern Italy, about two hours from Naples. Its name comes from the legend that the Greek gods walked this path to save Ulysses from the sirens. The old mule track runs about 5 miles from the mountain village of Bomerano to Nocelle above Positano, about 2,000 feet above the sea, along the most beautiful and representative stretch of Mediterranean coast, with Capri in view the whole way. The walk takes most hikers three to four hours, mostly downhill, and ends with a descent of about 1,700 stone steps through lemon groves into Positano. The best time to go is April through November, when the trail is open.

It is the most beautiful and representative stretch of Mediterranean coast, a UNESCO World Heritage site, Costiera Amalfitana, where steep cliffs fall to a blue sea, lemon groves, and pastel towns below.
