Arches National Park

About four hours southeast of Salt Lake City, just outside the town of Moab, Arches holds more than 2,000 natural stone arches, the densest concentration on Earth. Delicate Arch is the icon, and at sunset the whole span glows ember red with the La Sal Mountains framed inside it. Between the arches the park is a playground of slickrock trails that send you scrambling up and down on hands and feet, past formations with names like Park Avenue, the Three Gossips, and Sheep Rock. Spring and fall bring the mild days that make the rock perfect for dawn to dusk exploring.
