Canyonlands National Park

About four hours southeast of Salt Lake City, just outside the town of Moab, Canyonlands is a vast desert of canyons, mesas, and buttes carved by the Colorado and Green rivers, split into four districts that no road connects. The Maze is the wildest of them, one of the most remote corners of the American park system and a legend in the overlanding community, where reaching the heart of it takes a multi day 4WD expedition through a labyrinth of slickrock canyons. For everyone else there is Mesa Arch at Island in the Sky, a stone span framing the canyon that glows at sunrise. Spring and fall bring the mild days that make the desert perfect for long days outside.
